Integrated cotton mill comprising 2 spinning mills either side of a warehouse and office block, with weaving sheds attached to one mill.
First mill dated 1840, the second, 1851. Warehouse building c. 1850. Weaving sheds possibly a later addition. Cast iron and brick fire-proof structure, with brick cladding and low pitched Welsh slate roofs. Mill no.1 of 6 storeys, 28×6 bays. Angles stressed with plain panelled pilasters with heavy stone capitals. Small brick arched windows with stone sills. Internal engine house to rear, in bay emphasised by pilasters. Semi-octagonal stair tower towards the centre of the inner face of mill and storeyed bridge carried on cast-iron girders linking the spinning block to the warehouse building which forms the central block of the complex. The warehouse also 5 storeyed, 10×5 bays with small brick arched windows. Front gable end comprises offices on 2 storeys, with central door in architrave with entablature carried on moulded console brackets, and flanking windows with stressed stone architraves with flat voussoir heads with keystones. Angles stressed. by plain panelled pilasters with stone capitals linked to moulded parapet with raised central blocking course. Very narrow single-storeyed saw-toothed range of 8 bays to southwest side of this block, probably card room extension.
A storeyed bridge links warehouse block to mill no.2. Dated 1851. 3 storeys but originally 4, and 10×5 bays. Weaving sheds adjoin mill no.2: Single storeyed but extensively altered. An important example of an integrated complex planned as a series of linked blocks.

Out in our snow covered countryside.
Here in Manchester, England we had a bit of snowfall this week, so I took a bit of time off work to fly the drone over it. I managed to fly at Harsthead Pike without issue, but at Dovestones it was too windy to get the drone up unfortunately so I just took some photos instead.

Wales in May 2018
Earlier this year my partner and I visited some beautiful parts of Wales, including Portmeirion and Barmouth. We took both drones for the Aerial Photography and got some lovely footage as the weather was not too bad for us.
I thought I’d share it with you and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did 🙂
Enjoy Mother Natures free light show :)
Sometimes, you have to kick back and take 5 minutes to enjoy the spectacular shows that Mother Nature provides for FREE – we are so lucky to have such a beautiful planet
Sunset over Droylsden (August 2018)
I took the drone up on this day as the weather had been gorgeous, with no clouds in the sky, but as the sun fell out of the sky at the end of the day, the cloud formations came, and they looked stunning, it wasn’t until I got the drone in the air I realised how nice the sky looked – I did some photos and videos, for now here is a 16 shot panorama of the sunset over Manchester.
Birthday weekend in Wales
It was my Birthday on the 18th of July, so on the weekend we decided to have a few days in Wales and see some more of the beautiful Welsh scenery.
We visited Bala, Porthmadog, Ffestiniog (on the train and by car), Criccieth, Ruthin and various other places in-between.
On the way to Porthmadog, our first stay we called in to some fisheries we have visited before, and had lunch, we met a lovely older couple called Barry & Sue and ended up chatting for ages to them – It’s always nice to meet new people and learn about them (there was no space for them to sit when they arrived so we invited them to our table, a nice habit we have, and it has made us some great friends here and in Asia, you should try it 🙂 )
Here are a few photos and then a 9 minute video of the journey, from the train, the car, the drone and the DSLR.
I hope you enjoy the photos and video and look forward to your comments.
Audenshaw 360° Test into WordPress
I’ve not added any 360° photos here before as they were impossible to get into WordPress, but now, thanks to Kuula, I can add them to my Blog, which means you can have them in your blogs and pages as part of my Web Design through my work (www.mobilepcrescue.co.uk)

Fires on Stalybridge Moors
As many of you know, there are fires on the moors over Stalybridge, all around Carrbrook. I tried to get some photos today but the Police were there stopping people, which is really a good thing as it keeps us safe. I didn’t manage to fly the drone either as there are helicopters all around dropping water, so I obviously wanted to ensure that my drone was not in anyone’s way, so it was grounded. I may try again tomorrow from a different location.
For now here are some photos of the area and some photos of the surrounding areas.
If you do go to try and see the fire, please keep the roads safe and park out of the way so any emergency vehicles can get through. Stay Safe!

It took just over 2 months from the fire to the entire building being a pile of rubble.

Final days of demolition at Ray Mill, Stalybridge.
Over the past few weeks I have been filming the demolition of Ray Mill for Lord Demolition from Oldham. It’s been great to see the professionals drop a fire damaged mill, and it’s also been upsetting as I worked there when Warmshield had it. I have literally hours of video …
